  1. United's captain has come out and said it's not the manager's fault and it's down to the players, but as we all know, it's a lot easier to sack the manager than a whole squad.
  2. What's happened to Jack Ross? He saved St Mirren from almost certain relegation and then led them to promotion the following season. Has he regressed since then?
  3. I was pleasantly surprised at what a good watch the game was from first to last. As a Pars fan, I thought we were unlucky not to edge it - I can`t see why that goal was chalked off right at the end. The more objective part of me thinks Airdrie would have been hard done by if they`d left without a point. They were obviously happy with that, with all the play acting and time wasting after they equalised. Some things never change. I remember a game in which they had 2 players sent off - Innes MDonald was one - but the 9 men managed to hold out for a draw, with a combination of feigning injury and kicking the ball out of the ground. 🙁
  4. Cheers for that, Superally, but you're showing your age there. 🙂 The Schools Engagement Programme ran from 2014 until March 2020 when we went into lockdown due to Covid. Hopefully, we'll get the green light from the club to re-start soon. Plenty of local primary schools have been in touch to register their interest recently, now that restrictions have been lifted.
  5. Perhaps you can let us know how closely your gut reaction mirrors the questions, Piracy? I can't make it tonight, but I hope every fan in attendance comes out feeling better than when they went in,
  6. We're all frustrated at the lack of new players coming in and how threadbare the first team squad is, RP, but I can't imagine James McPake letting his frustration get the better of him tonight and pointing an accusing finger at the BoD, which is what I thought you were hinting at. A public rant would be extremely unwise on his part, no matter how intense his frustration is. As for the fans in attendance, there's nothing to stop them venting their feelings and no doubt a few will do just that and any Board members present will just have to take it on the chin.
  7. "Interesting " RP? I'm intrigued.
  8. Like the OP, I believe the most likely outcome is a draw, but I'm hoping the Pars can edge it. A debatable, stoppage time penalty winner would be just magic. 😃
  9. Yea, I believe they're off Sunday, Monday now and in the rest of the week. I know they used to get Sun, Wed, under AJ and Stevie Crawford. Dunno with Grant and Hughes.
  10. You're unlikely to see any players training today, RP - it's their day off.🙂
  11. "The ball went home in an ambulance." 😂🤣😂
  12. A bit saddened for the reasons Digs outlines above, but perhaps a smaller club, drawn at home, now has a better chance of going through on pens, than if they were taken to a replay. A big pay day, no doubt, but an inevitable scudding by 5 or more goals. 🙁
  13. Well I didn't know about part time teams which is why I asked. I do know that under AJ and Stevie Crawford, the Pars trained half days on Mon and Fri, double sessions on Tues and Thurs, off Sun and Wed. Not a lot of physical work on the half days, Mostly tactical stuff. Looking back on Mon, looking forward on Fri. Effectively 2 days training. 1.5 hours mornings. 1hr in gym in the 2 afternoons, so maybe not a huge difference. Would explain why some part time teams appear just as fit as full time opponents.
  14. Do part time train less hours per week and with less intensity? I also have a serious heart condition, although I don't know if it's similar to Scott Allan's. My cardiologist was happy for me to continue running because the heart muscle is strengthened by physical exercise. Still running 12 years on from the diagnosis. ☺
  15. I have no problem with anyone who is not in favour of sponsorship, but it's quite a stretch to believe these fans make up the majority of our support. Most fans want to see a winning team on the park, especially at home. If the money coming from KDM helps bring in 2 or 3 new players before the window closes and they help us clinch promotion at the end of the season, I don't think many will still think it was a poor decision by the BoD. It's also worth noting that we're not exactly "mas que un club" and even Barcelona have compromised their principles in recent years. It would be great if we could be successful on gate receipts and the odd transfer fee, but these days are long gone and they aren't coming back. 🙁 Eta. I've never been outed as a Tory before - I'd sooner be a Rangers fan and that's saying something. 😃
  16. I think Ross McArthur said the Pars didn't insure players against injuries, a few seasons back, because it was too expensive, but then ended up having to pay for a number of private ops, after a freakish run among the squad. Perhaps our policy has changed since then? Maybe Allen's wage demands were too steep for Kelly?
  17. Having now heard McPake's interview, I'm more inclined to share your concerns, PFL. Nobody is saying it's easy to attract quality players in League 1, but that's the BoD's job, if they want to mount a serious promotion challenge. The squad we have has done well to gather full points from 3 games, but that can't last. How long before injuries and/or suspensions begin to bite?
  18. A nightmare performance from referee Anthony Taylor and the VAR, deprived Chelsea of a deserved win in yesterday`s London derby. Spurs first equaliser came after Taylor failed to award Chelsea a free kick for a clear foul by Bentancur on Havertz. VAR said too long had elapsed (44 seconds) between the foul and the goal, to reverse the decision. What nonsense! Is there a time limit in the Laws of the Game? The goal was further clouded by Richarlson standing in an offside position, at least partially obstructing Mendy`s view in the Chelsea goal. Even worse was to follow. In the build up to Spurs second equaliser, Cucurella clearly had his hair violently pulled, yet neither Taylor nor VAR saw fit to issue a red card.
  19. I was just using a bit of hyperbole to make a point rather than setting out to be silly, PFL. We all want to see some quality signings brought in before the window closes, but if they don't want to come or we can't afford their wage demands, what would you suggest the club does?
  20. Aye, it would be better if he didn't vent his frustration publicly, but he's only human. Perhaps it's his way of putting a little bit of pressure on the Board? I don't agree that this will make agents more difficult to negotiate with - they'll know money's tight outwith the top flight, so they have to be realistic with their demands. Any bleating a manager may make in public is irrelevant.
  21. Aye, we could sort that by offering these players silly money - like Therangers did when they began life in League 2. Remember Kevin Kyle saying he asked for double what he thought would be a fantastic salary and almost falling out of his chair when Ally McCoist said he could have it?
  22. I can't understand why you've indirectly jumped to the conclusion that he's having a pop at the Board. Don't get me wrong - he's frustrated alright, but it's more likely to be because the quality of player he'd like to bring in, is probably holding back, to see if his agent can find him a better deal elsewhere, a club playing at a higher level, or preferably both.
