  1. Hibs sacked an experienced manager and replaced him with one who had none. That's a massive gamble and it's clearly failed. If they're still paying Ross and Potter, they could hold their hands up and ask them to come back. Bizarrely, this practice is quite common in Serie A, where clubs cannot hire a manager currently working for another club in mid season.
  2. I don't if he was injured or ill but he was unable to train last week. The lad hasn't had much luck on both counts, throughout his time at EEP.
  3. Different players have different attitudes. I remember seeing Scott Wilson in the main stand before a game, when Stephen Kenny was the manager. I asked him why he wasn't playing and he said he'd felt a wee twinge in training on the Thursday. He then added, "The boss wanted me to play but I said, Nah, better not risk it." And with that he gave me a big smile and a wink. Make of that what you will.....
  4. Let's hope Donaldson's injury is far less serious than yours, Raymie. I'm surprised he was asked/agreed to play. These situations are rarely worth the risk.
  5. Oh to see ourselves as others see us. I don't want to sound all sanctimonious and judgemental, but isn't there something seriously psychologically wrong with anyone who is so out of step in their thinking?
  6. It looked very soft to me, but then I'm rather biased and the ref was a lot closer to the incident. He missed a lot of fouls all the same. Apparently, he gave a total of 14 free kicks for fouls, which is a very low number for such a vital game.
  7. I think we all agree we had a large dollop of good luck yesterday. Ayr should have been out of sight on chances by half-time but chose to time waste in the second half. Feck them! There have been plenty of games this season when we deserved to get something but didn't. We've given ourselves a good chance of avoiding the play offs. Let's grab it!
  8. I don't think it's so much about being crap at holding onto a lead, as a lack of confidence which comes with spending most of the season, close or at the foot of the table, S'Ally. Statistically, most teams who open the scoring, go on to win a game, but our league position leads to the players becoming anxious and nervous, putting themselves under unnecessary pressure by defending too deeply and conceding the initiative. No matter how much the manager may exhort his team to attack, fear can cause the opposite reaction. Ayr, Partick and Raith at home have seen us buck that trend, let's fervently hope that continues tomorrow.
  9. Back on topic, this is the biggest game of the season, No 16, or thereabouts. A repeat of the 3-0 gubbing we handed them on their last visit would be just brad, but I feel they will fight tooth and nail for a point, so it's important we get that first goal and don't panic if it doesn't come quite early. Last minute would be fine but I don't know if my old ticker can take it. 🙂
  10. 🤣😂 He was probably right, too. 🙂
  11. Loving your optimism, Grant. If you think you can win, you might. If you think you'll lose, you will.
  12. We don't need to win 4 games. Just get through on aggregate. Our home form is good enough to get us through. Agree with Da go, rather avoid the play offs altogether.
  13. Yes, we are good enough to beat any League 1 team over 2 legs. 2 away wins in the Championship is irrelevant in the play offs, keep it tight away win at home. Bingo!
  14. If we are destined for the play offs, I'd have loved us to have had the chance to take Falkirk apart in front of a packed EEP. In reply to scottyboy, the play offs are weighted in the Championship team'sfavour, with the 2nd leg at home. I'm not remotely afraid of facing Airdrie, Montrose or Queens Park over two legs. Respect them, yes. Fear them, absolutely not.
  15. Gutted to have missed the game but delighted to hear the performance matched the result.
  16. We are unlikely to play Cove, Scotty. We'd have to finish 9th (every chance) and Cove would have to miss out on the League 1 title. Even then we could only meet them in the play off final if we both won our semis. ( 4th v 9th and 3rd v 2nd.) No chance of Cove finishing 4th. Eta. Looks like Falkirk have lost any chance of making the play offs after getting gubbed 0-3 at home by Montrose today. Shame..... 😃
  17. Not a happy bunny myself. I carefully organised a short family holiday from tomorrow, several months ago, meaning I wouldn't miss a Pars game. Not for a minute did I imagine either the Pars or the Lino Lickers would be playing in a national cup final this weekend. You'd think they could have played the final in midweek, or at the end of the season. Killie can't have been that desperate in the semi-final. Wouldn't it be funny if QOS give the wee team a good gubbing? 😃
  18. For sure. I think Scotland have a chance of making it to Qatar. If the war in Ukraine drags on, I think they might forfeit the semi-final v Scotland and if we can keep Bale quiet, we can beat Wales. Apart from Bale and Ramsey, Wales are composed of journeyman professionals. Steve Clarke has assembled a better all round squad, imo.
  19. Surprised nobody took the obvious bait, Keyser. Wales are a one man team and I don't mean the crock who is now earning free money at Ibrokes. Sevco's directors have obviously never heard of Daniel Prodan, who never kicked a ball despite spending 4 years in Govan.
  20. I'd never want Scotland not to qualify, but I agree with your sentiments 're the host nation. I normally look forward to WC tournaments and try to watch as many games as I can, but if Scotland follow Italy and miss out, it will be easier to give most of the games a body swerve. Everyone knows Qatar bought the WC by bribing FIFA officials. Factor in their appalling health & safety record during the construction of the WC stadia and non existent human rights for foreign workers and I'll feel like a total hypocrite every time I watch a game. Eta. It's a decent draw for Scotland and it might be easier to get out of that group than to qualify. Iran appear rank outsiders on paper but the conditions will favour them.
  21. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/60929239 Reading between the lines, it look like the main reason last year's coup failed, was because the ESL proposal was a closed shop. It may well gain more traction if the 3 clubs still living in hope decide to bring it back to the table as a meritocracy - a league which relegation from and promotion to is possible for all clubs.
  22. Altogether now, to the tune of Guantanamera..... 🙂
  23. Behave yersel, Grant. I know some good guys who come from/ have lived in Kelty, but it's not anything to brag about. 😃
  24. I'm aware there was more than one statement which upset you, Ross, which is why I used the plural in my earlier post and without going over old ground, I completely understand where you're coming from and I agree that any poorly worded statement from the BoD merely serves to alienate otherwise loyal fans who feel targeted. Personally, I've never felt that way, but that doesn't mean I disagree with the points you make. Where you hit below the belt is when you more or less have me pass for a dottery old fart because I once asked you if you were my son's pal, who is also called Ross, is a Pars fan and posts on the forums. Kelty_Par has then thrown petrol on your fire by adopting the same username as another native of the sprawling northern metropolis on the shores of Lochore Meadows. (He posts on dotnet but has also posted on here.) I mean, can you guys not use a bit of grey matter and choose a unique username to avoid any confusion? 🙁 How many GG Rivas have you identified on the Pars forums to date? 🤔 I rest my case, m'lud.....
