Pressing Game

One factor that contributed to our onslaught of four goals inside half an hour on Saturday was the intensity with which we pressed Cowdenbeath. We literally blew them away by not giving them a second on the ball and forcing them into errors. However, did anyone see a problem with this if we come up against better opposition? When we pressed the ball high sometimes we had two or three players closing down one area of the pitch which left a big space in behind the midfield and in front of the defence. Andy Geggan naturally covers this area but there were a few occasions where he got caught out of position and the Cowdenbeath attackers were right on top of our defence. Luckily Cowdenbeath didn't have the quality to take advantage but other teams (like Dundee) might. Perhaps not a problem against most teams in the league but it'll be interesting to see if teams use that space to try to hurt us.

Still, if we score more than the opposition with our obvious attacking quality then who cares!

The way we went out from the word off tells me that these guys are extremely fit and miles ahead of last season fitness wise.

There's no apparent dubiety about where they're each meant to be playing and the ball is moving quickly from back to front.

Much more confident and assured but the point is where will be just after Christmas.
