SanguinePar
EDIT - appointment now confirmed Original post: https://www.thecourier.co.uk/fp/sport/football/3325602/james-mcpake-dunfermline-manager-dundee/ EDIT - Article seems to be paywalled now, but here's the text: EXCLUSIVE: James McPake to be named new Dunfermline manager as former Dundee boss seals dugout return By Alan Temple May 24 2022, 7.00am James McPake is set to be appointed manager of Dunfermline Athletic. The 37-year-old held positive talks with East End Park chiefs in recent days and Courier Sport understands terms have been agreed with the Fifers. Barring any unforeseen hitches, McPake will be officially confirmed as Pars boss in the next 24 hours, succeeding John Hughes at the helm. He will be Dunfermline’s fourth permanent manager in 12 months. Hughes stepped down last week after suffering a chastening playoff defeat against Queen’s Park, cementing relegation to League 1. Meanwhile, McPake has been out of work since being dismissed by Dundee on February 16. The Dens Park outfit were on a run of just one defeat in six games when McPake was shown the door, booking a place in the Scottish Cup quarter-final and defeating Hearts at Tynecastle in the process. They were 11th in the Premiership, one point ahead of St Johnstone. The Dark Blues went on to win once in their final 14 games under Mark McGhee and finish six points adrift of the Perth Saints at the bottom of the league. Courier Sport understands Dunfermline chief executive David Cook and sporting director Thomas Meggle were impressed by McPake’s enthusiasm, commitment to attacking football and willingness to give youth a chance. The fact McPake managed to guide Dundee — another club with massive expectations — to promotion from the Championship was another persuasive factor, given the Fifers face a comparable challenge in League One. McPake was appointed Dundee boss in the summer of 2019 following a brief spell as caretaker; an almighty rebuilding job following the miserable denouement of the Jim McIntyre era. He missed out on promotion in the Covid curtailed 2019/20 campaign before leading the Dee back to the Premiership the following season, dispatching Kilmarnock 4-2 on aggregate in the playoff final. Tartan Army Par
Commitment to attacking football is good. Not had that with recent managers. Get the impression he will give it everything and maybe not stuck in his ways like some of the old heads we've had recently.

Raymie
Let’s give him a chance. I don’t think we could attract a manager that would tick every single box?
DA-go Par Adonis
I liked him as a player. Seemed a good organiser and leader. This doesn't make any sense to me at all though. Really hope I'm wrong.
livipar2
How many does McPake tick exactly?? it’s uninspiring and average at best. Same as the last two appointments, they got my support this one doesn’t at all.

Peter Grant was awful but after what yogi done at Ross county it seemed the right move for the situation we were in. Although managers get the blame , the players need a good look at themselves. Embarrassing some of the so called efforts they put in
SanguinePar
I don't know why, but I have a reasonably good feeling about McPake. Certainly much more than I did with Grant and Hughes. Fingers crossed.
Keyser Soze
Not who I would’ve gone for but with Raith and Dundee both fishing in a similar pool it wasn’t the best time to be looking for a new manager with League One football on the horizon. Unfortunately we are lumbered with some of the biggest culprits for another year.
rosythpar
McPake also likes to bring through youth players, I would imagine that would be a big selling point for the board.
