Secure Par
Listening to McPakes interviews and the team we have already we really should be finishing in 1st. Add a few more players but our budget will be low compared to Championship level. The manager comes across as a guy that knows what he wants and the team needs to work really hard in every game. We have the experienced players and gel the young guns in then it’s already looking a good squad.
parsforlife
If we're not aiming for first we may as well give up and go home. That said i'm not yet convinced we have the squad quite just yet for that, queens have recruited well for example, they look a bigger threat than you would have expected. Falkirk done a good job swiping Donaldson from underneath our noses, but IMO the rest of their recruitment isn't as threatening. Long way to go but as things stand it looks like an even fight between the 3 of us. The more outsiders in Montrose, Airdrie and Kelty haven't done much different to previous seasons, they'll be tough to beat and one of them could win the league, but I'd be disappointed to finish behind any of them. GG Riva
We'll be aiming for automatic promotion alright, but I don't think you'll get anyone at the club to state as much. Why provide a stick for others to beat you with if you fail to meet your target? Look at how it worked out for Peter Grant. I'm fairly certain McPake will answer such questions on Wednesday along the lines of "We'll be aiming to win as many games as we can and finish as high as possible." Being incredibly **** at his job and too thick/arrogant to realise that was his undoing, not ambition.
Piracy
We need to believe we're capable of at least competing, we didn't have that last season. McPakes biggest job is establishing trust in his vision and leadership style. He gets that right we'll be up there. Any type of management, you've got to take your people with you.

Agreed - before the season started saying anything other than "This is a league we should consider ourselves to have a realistic chance of winning" would have seen the club (rightly) accused of lacking ambition. Saying it when we were bottom of the league about a third of the way into the season... not so much!

Aye, grant did seem quite foolish then, along with just about everything else he did...
