Pars v Montrose

Much improved second half, so fair play to McPake for whatever he said to them. We seemed a lot more confident, a lot more urgent, and a lot more determined. Good subs too, must be brilliant to see the changes pay off so well.

Probably should have had another when McCann broke free but then underhit the pass, but whatever.

Should also have had a penalty and the less said about that decision not to give us a corner the better. Shocking decisions.

🎶 We are top of the league, say we are top of the league 🎶

Thought we started the game off pretty well, then slowly Montrose grew into the half (without posing much of a goal threat) and our midfield became flat footed, failing to look for space and want on the ball which made it difficult for us to mount any serious offence.

Second half, a little more intent and we looked most likely to score, great use of the subs and Todorov with a decent header, in the end a 1-0 was a fair result.

Some player performances though were pretty poor. O’Hara again, Wighton again, McCann didn’t have the best of games either.

With such a small squad they will get away with it but would be good if we could bring in more bodies to provide that competition for places, O’Hara could do with some time sitting on the bench.

3 wins out of 3 though and nearest competition dropping points so all in all a good days work but still a lot of work and improvement needed if we are to try and sustain this.

Be interesting to see the midfield dynamic with Hamilton coming back in. Chalmers had a really good game  against Edinburgh with some clever, accurate passing (albeit against poorer opposition), does Mochrie, who was also very composed when he came on, get a start? Think as confidence grows there are goals in this team. 3-1 Pars.

Too positive again

"Back to to-day I am concerned with lack of cover in central defence and in midfield. We are only a red card or injury away from a crisis in certain positions and its not a good place to be. "

McPake has said almost exactly the same thing in his interview after the match.
