played well, once again failed to take our chances. We desperately need players in so we have some options to change things, clearly McPake doesn't trust any of the young lads to come on and do a job for 10 minutes of a game

I disagree with that. He's protecting them. They're 16 years old and there for emergency cover for injuries, that's it. They wouldn't be anywhere near the bench under normal circumstances and it doesn't help with the ridiculous expectations on them. At the Killie friendly, the cheers that went on for Andy Tod's laddie was ridiculous, and the applause he got when he walked towards the stand at the end of the game. He hadn't done anything other than be Andy Tod's son. That's not a criticism of him btw, he did well, but it was way over the top.

Young tod is in a tough position, It would be almost impossible to avoid it unfortunately.

That group as a whole are in an odd position,  even if they are emergency cover that's still a couple of years ahead of where previous age groups were.  Fenton made his debut at 18,  mccann at 17, todd 17,  allan 18.    None of them got significant minutes until last season.

If we had a normal sized first team squad these guys would all be concentrating on their u18 matches out of the spotlight.
