Peterhead v Pars

Arguably the Pars suffered a new managers bounce against Clyde, and potentially it looks like a potential repeating scenario this Saturday with Jim McInally just resigning from Peterhead. With the Pars heading north to Balmoor stadium there will be an element of revenge in mind after the Pars gave away a comfortable 2-0 win to draw 2-2 in the last moments of the game at EEP. With a somewhat complacent first half performance against Clyde the faithful will be looking for an improved performance against the League one bottom side this time out. Peterhead’s last win was against Kelty Hearts in September. Over the past 10 matches they have managed a single win, 3 draws and 6 losses. On their last outing they drew 1-1 with Airdrie. Overall they have managed 10 goals (2 against the Pars!) and conceded 36 - more than anyone else.  The Pars huffed and puffed to earn a draw against struggling Clyde requiring pens from Benedictus to save a point. However, injuries do seem to have impacted on the team with McCann and Allan being long term, when you add in Breen and Hamilton? It makes things difficult with a small squad. Edwards also looked to be carrying a problem too and didnt look the player we normally expect to see. The Pars have allowed Falkirk to pull back a couple of points last Saturday and really can't afford anymore slipups against teams at the lower end of the table especially those with new managers! Has to be a 2-0 Pars win

Another new manager bounce?  Jim McInally has just resigned.

I'm pinning my hopes on the fact that the "New manager bounce" is not a given 100% of the time. 🙂

It's also very unlikely that Peterhead will have a new permanent manager in place by Saturday in any case. Is there such a phenomenon as an "Interim manager bounce?" 🤔

You sometimes see an  "old manager gone bounce" even before a new boss in in place. See our win at Inverness once Grant was punted, and before Hughes was brought in to unsteady the ship.

Jimmy Nicholl had a 100% record for us I think.

While some of the younger players featured against Celtic B, I think McPake will go with his tried and tested formula against Peterhead. I think Hamilton and Breen will return. This is a game we have to make sure that we come down the road with 3pts. Falkirk won't be as complacent in taking 3 pts from Clyde this weekend so the Pars have to maintain the gap
