QoS v The Pars

After the previous weeks double header against Airdrie the Pars head to Palmerston to face QoS. While the Pars can regard previous visits as being successful this can be a tricky venue and like many of the games in the league 3pts cant be taken for granted. QoS since their relegation have struggled in League 1, they sit 7th in the table but do seem to be safe from relegation worries being 18pts ahead of Clyde in the playoff place. Recent form has had them won three and lost three and their last outing against Kelty (their closest challengers) was a defeat to three late goals. Thus far in the two previous meetings the Pars have managed 4pts from a 2-0 win at Palmerston with goals from Todorov & Breen and a 1-1 draw at EEP with Todorov scoring a equaliser. Marvin Bartly is the new incumbent Manager after Wullie Gibson left the post but Queens still have struggled with any consistency. The Pars continue to prove difficult to beat and with 12 games left the run in will be all important with two draws and four wins in the last 6 games there is still scope for improvement. Defensively I thought we looked slightly nervous and the expected intensity can sometimes be missing in the first 45m and only evident when we are chasing a game.  A five point lead is a great position to be in but we can’t be complacent and form heading to the run in will be all important. However, form does suggest a Pars win and I’ll opt for 2-1. COYP

Last week’s lacklustre performance seemed like a reaction to the excitement of the previous game. Hopefully that is all out of the way and we can refocus on James McPake’s mission for this season - winning games of football. Bringing in a good experienced player in Paul McGowan should give us a boost, especially creatively which has been our weak spot.

Our away form has been pretty decent this season, so hopefully that will continue. A draw would be pretty rubbish as it's 2 pts dropped and would put us under pressure if Falkirk were to win. I think McPake will have us going for the 3pts and we'll be rewarded for our positive approach.  2-1 Pars.
