Breen Machine

Rhys Breen is the latest of Dunfermline’s title-winning squad to agree a new deal.

The defender has thrashed out a two-year extension to extend his East End Park stay. Breen’s existing contract was due to expire in the summer.

The former Rangers youngster has been a key figure in helping the Pars to the League One title. The 23-year-old had been attracting interest from Barnsley, Oxford United and Glentoran but has decided to take the step up to the Championship with the Fifers.

Boss James McPake has moved quickly to get a number of his key players signed up. Midfielder Matty Todd, defender Josh Edwards and Craig Wighton have recently signed new deals, as have their management team of McPake and Dave Mackay.

Excellent news. Maybe we can get Fisher from Dundee and that’s us set at CB.

Can't agree we'd be set

Think we would need one more if we want to play a back 3 most weeks as we would need cover.

If we got Fisher and Euan Murray we would be ok for central defenders, even then you'd want comrie or someone like comrie who can play a few roles over the season for more depth overall

Happy with Breen signing. He's a good bloke as we as a decent player.

I can vouch for that. A good character as well as a decent defender. Ironically, he might not have nailed down a starting place if Dundee hadn't recalled Sam Fisher.

I think he would, but we’d have likely seen less of KRH with comrie pushed forward.

This deal was seemingly let slip after winning the league and if secured officially with the other rumoured deal for comrie it’s good news all round
