Pars v St Mirren Friendly

Recommended Posts

With two friendlies in the Pars face their first big game against a St Mirren side. Steven Robinsons Buddies are comfortably established as a premiership team and undoubtedly this will fully test out the Pars and will likely show our short fallings. While the the previous two friendlies against East Fife and Cove Rangers have given a squad a run out, the performances and end product have been arguably unconvincing. While we expect to see a number of substitutions hopefully we should be seeing a semblance of a settled side and being the first game at home this season give the fans encouragement for the league campaign ahead. Said it before but they're a club we should look at, see what's making them successful and apply it where possible.

Definitely. They came from quite a low ebb too, not quite league 1 but not far off.... We can learn something from what they've done over the last 5/6 years.

Isn't the main factor that they got a huge offer from Tesco for the Love Street site including clearing their debts and getting a new stadium built for them, paid for by Tesco?

EDIT - yes:

"On 16 August 2005 the Scottish Executive and Renfrewshire Council granted permission for the club to sell Love Street for supermarket development and allow the club to build a new stadium in Greenhill Road, Ferguslie Park, Paisley. The sale of their old ground financed the new stadium and cleared the financial debts of the club. In April 2007 it was announced that a deal had been struck with Tesco. Under this deal Tesco would pay for the construction of the new St Mirren Park, an 8,000-seat stadium. Work on the new ground started on 9 January 2008."

Not what I'd want to see with EEP tbh.
