don’t think the players look confident in the system even last season playing it. Only time we’ve looked a settled team is when we play a back 4

Disagree with that. We've been all over the shop regardless of formation over the 12 months, largely due to not having a settled back line due to availability

4-2-3-1 is ideal for the players we have

Not it's not

We don't have evough wide attacking players to play that formation for a start

We have KRH on the right but no left winger. We have no midfielder other than Todd who makes late runs and supports the lone striker. So playing that formation would be just as ****e if not worse imo

That's nothing to do with a back 5. That's just poor play /individual choices on the ball, which will happen whether whatever formation we play

It kinda is though, for the 5 at the back formation there's allot of emphasis for your wide centre backs to be capable of progressing the ball. Outwith Otoo if we play him at LCB we don't have that, so our buildup play is slow and laboured.

That's nothing to do with not being able to pass a ball ten yards to another player, stepping out and carrying the ball forward can be a problem at times, both fisher and breen can do it, but neither have been available due to injury for a consistent period at this level imo. Comrie when he plays right centre half can also do it but isn't as comfortable defensively playing that role.

I found that to be quite an interesting watch this afternoon. Friendlies are exactly that: there isn’t the full commitment from players and energy rates are still being built up. But there were promising signs from the Pars as well as a few familiar concerns. The positives? Some very good individual contributions and some neat passing and interplay which bodes well for the season ahead. We made chances and really should have scored; and that’s one of the concerning things. There just seems to be a lack of composure in front of goal. One can only hope that things will improve in the coming weeks. Sadly, I don’t see Craig Wighton making much of a contribution in this department. I’ve always had a lot of respect for him but he’s a shadow of what he once was. Having said that he did play a couple of sublime passes / flicks from midfield. Might there be some other midfield role for him? Another concern is Bene. I remember his towering presence from a couple of seasons ago when he commanded the defence. Today? Dithering, slow, skinned on a couple of occasions and generally well off the pace. I sincerely hope that he’s just battling back after last season’s injuries because we really need his leadership. Without that - and with Mehmet’s continuing nervous performance in the box - we could ship an awful lot of goals in 24/25.

How long can this go on? The guy is just clueless with his decision making. Think we need to cut our losses on this one and bring in a good championship quality goalkeeper to take his place. Deniz should be the back up.

Assuming it’ll be the young 15 year old on the bench come Saturday if we don’t sign anyone. Not fair putting a young lad in that situation if it came to it

Can't play u16s. It will be Andy collier like it was in the challenge cup when only little was available
